Timber¶
The Timber console enters dimensional timber, sold by volume (cubic metre). The price depends on the species and the piece's three dimensions — thickness, width and length.
Adding a product¶
- In ID, give the piece a name (e.g.
B1). - Enter the Qty.
- In Code, press
ENTERand choose the product from the list — each timber product has its own code for quick entry (e.g.VEUC6X12). The Item, Species, Thick. (cm) and Width (cm) are filled in automatically. - Choose the Length (m).
With the species and dimensions filled in, the Price/un is calculated. Editing the Price/un adjusts the Variation, and vice versa.
The grid fields¶
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| ID | Identifier of the piece. |
| Code | Timber product code (quick entry). |
| Item | The category (BEAM, BOARD, PLANK…). |
| Species | The timber species (EUCALYPTUS, GARAPA…). |
| Thick. (cm) | Thickness, in centimetres. |
| Width (cm) | Width, in centimetres. |
| Length (m) | Length, in metres. |
| Qty | Quantity. |
| Price/un | Unit price. |
| Variation | Surcharge or discount against the pricelist price, in %. |
| Compl. 1 / 2 / 3 | Up to three complements (see below). |
| Value | Sum of the complements (calculated). |
Complements¶
Up to three complements can be applied to each piece (the Compl. 1, Compl. 2 and Compl. 3 fields) — for example PLANED END 1M or DRESSED. Each complement's value is set in the pricelist and added to the Price/un, recalculating the Subtotal.
Non-standard measurements¶
The category, species, thickness and width can be edited directly. When you enter a non-standard dimension (for example, changing a width from 20 cm to 18 cm), the program keeps the product and price of the nearest suitable item: it charges and draws down stock as if it were that product, and the offcut is treated as waste.
Extra labour
To charge for the extra work of making a non-standard piece, add a suitable complement.
Change Species¶
When the customer wants to compare the same quote in different species (for example, Eucalyptus and Peroba), use Change Species, on the Timber button's menu. Enter the source species in From and the wanted one in To, and click Apply.
Items already on a delivery list are not changed. If an item does not exist in the new species, the program looks for the nearest match, which may change the dimensions.
Notes¶
- Items on a delivery already scheduled or delivered cannot be edited or deleted without first reverting the delivery.
- To delete items or apply Quick Price to several at once, see the Sales page.
